Rev. Dr. James Mwita is a distinguished academic, ordained minister, and transformative educator whose ministry and scholarship bridge faith, peace, and community development. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Religious Studies from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), with a specialization in Peacebuilding and Ethnic Conflict Studies.
A Certified Professional Mediator (CPM), Dr. Mwita has significant expertise in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, with a strong focus on land and ethnic conflicts in Kenya. He is the originator of the Psycho‑Cultural Conflict Theory (2018), a framework that integrates psychological and cultural dimensions in the analysis and resolution of land-based and inter‑ethnic disputes.
Dr. Mwita has successfully supervised four PhD candidates and three Master’s students to completion and continues to mentor emerging scholars in theology, religious studies, and peace research. His academic and professional work combines interdisciplinary scholarship with practical mediation, emphasizing reconciliation, dialogue, and restorative justice.
He is the author of scholarly and theological works, including *Ethnic Land Conflict: A Way to Resolve Intra‑Ethnic Land Conflict in Kenya* and *Graceful Guardians*.
